A woman in India's Uttar Pradesh state died after an unlicensed doctor performed surgery to remove kidney stones while watching a YouTube video. The doctor was also under the influence of alcohol during the procedure, which led to the accidental severing of several nerves in the woman's stomach, small intestine, and esophagus, causing her death. Following the incident, the suspects fled with their families. The victim's family filed a report with the police, who immediately rushed to the scene and inspected the crime scene. A case has been registered against the fake doctor and his accomplice. According to the India Today newspaper, the victim, Minishra Rawat, was suffering from severe abdominal pain on December 5th. Her husband, Fateh Bahadur, took her to an unlicensed clinic in Barabanki, owned by Jaiprakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra. The former claimed the woman's pain was due to kidney stones and proposed surgery for 25,000 rupees ($275), though the price was later negotiated down to 20,000 rupees. The next day, Prakash began the surgery while watching a video on YouTube. The woman died the following day after suffering intense pain. A case has been filed against the clinic owners on charges of culpable homicide and violation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
