On Tuesday, in the Babusapalya area of Bangalore, one of India's major technology hubs, an entire building collapsed, and authorities began an investigation to determine the causes of this tragic event. Such accidents are unfortunately common in India during the monsoon season, which usually lasts from June to September.
According to police reports on Wednesday, at least five workers lost their lives and three others were trapped as a result of the collapse of a seven-story building under construction in southern India during the heavy monsoon rains. So far, firefighting and emergency teams have managed to rescue 13 people.
Safety regulations in construction are often applied inconsistently in India, and some contractors tend to resort to unsafe practices, such as using low-quality materials or constructing unauthorized additional floors, which increases the risk of structural collapses.
According to the police, "This tragic event highlights the importance of ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations at all stages of building construction to prevent avoidable accidents like this and protect the lives of construction workers."
