Air ambulance with seven on board crashes in India

A private air ambulance crashed in eastern India on Monday, with seven people on board, India's Civil Aviation Authority announced. The authority reported that a Beechcraft C90 aircraft, conducting a medical evacuation flight, crashed in the Kasaria area of Jharkhand state in eastern India. The fate of the seven individuals, including two crew members, was not immediately known. The authority stated in a social media post on Monday evening that a search and rescue team is at the scene and that a team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has been dispatched to the crash site. The aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways, departed Monday evening from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, bound for Delhi with a patient and a medical crew on board. The authority noted that the aircraft requested a route change due to adverse weather conditions, and contact was lost with air traffic control 23 minutes after takeoff. Local media reported that the aircraft crashed in a forest. Last month, a government official and four others were killed when their chartered plane crashed while landing in the city of Parbhani in the western state of Maharashtra.
