India Launches Operation Sindoor Against Terror Bases

The Indian Armed Forces have launched Operation Sindoor, targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This comes after a recent terrorist attack in Kashmir that killed 26 people. The operation has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

India Launches Operation Sindoor Against Terror Bases

The Indian Army bombed nine alleged terrorist bases located in Pakistan and in Pakistan-administered Kashmir past midnight on Wednesday, claiming that terrorist attacks against the country had been planned there. India's Ministry of Defense reported that the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation SINDOOR, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and in the Pakistani-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.

Discounting that the attacks targeted any Pakistani military installation, the historical tension between India and Pakistan intensified again after a terrorist attack in Kashmir on Tuesday, April 22. India labeled the attack as terrorist and accused Pakistan of being involved, promising to punish those responsible. Pakistani security officials reported that missiles fired from India across the border killed a child and injured two others.

Operation Sindoor represents a significant escalation in tensions between the two nuclear powers. India took punitive measures against Pakistan, while the latter responded with the expulsion of Indian diplomats and the cancellation of some visas. India, with a superior conventional force, also has an advantage in armored vehicles and aircraft, as well as nuclear weaponry.

Former Indian Intelligence Director Amarjit Singh Dulat mentioned that "war is the last worst option," expressing the need to avoid armed conflict. This incident is expected to generate a strong diplomatic response and an increase in military tension in the Kashmir region, disputed by both countries. Both nations have reported violations of the ceasefire agreement, without providing public evidence of Pakistan's alleged involvement in the attacks. The international community urges restraint and dialogue to avoid escalating the conflict, recognizing that in war there are no winners.
