At least four people were killed on Tuesday in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur during clashes between two rival ethnic groups, followed by clashes with security forces, local authorities reported. Manipur, located on the border with Myanmar, has been experiencing a conflict between the Meitei majority and the Kuki minority for years, resulting in the deaths of more than 250 people. The office of the state's executive chairman, Ynamem Khemchand Singh, stated that the incident was likely carried out by "individuals or groups determined to destabilize the state," adding that a "large-scale operation is underway." Authorities reported that recent violence has escalated with the killing of two Meitei children in an attack attributed to the Kuki.
