Yesterday, at the age of 89, the famous Indian Bollywood star Dharmendra passed away. He was known for his roles in romantic comedies and thrilling action films. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a social media post that 'Dharmendra's death marks the end of an era in Indian cinema,' adding, 'He was a prominent cinematic figure and an exceptional actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played.' The late actor had been suffering from a health issue and was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. During his prolific six-decade career, Dharmendra appeared in over 250 films, was a Member of Parliament, and received one of India's highest civilian honors. In the 1980s, Dharmendra shone in a series of action films, and his portrayal of the character 'Veeru' in the classic film 'Sholay' (1975) became his most famous role. Dharmendra, a father of six, also produced films starring his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. His final film, 'Anek,' directed by Sriram Raghavan, is set to be released next month.
