Trump and Modi Discuss Trade Tariffs

During talks at the White House, President Trump announced that PM Modi is considering reducing tariffs and increasing imports of US oil, gas, and fighter jets.

US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed to explore the possibility of reducing customs duties, increasing the purchase of oil, gas, and American aircraft, as well as possible concessions in trade disputes.

At the meeting at the White House, the leaders discussed Modi's proposals to reduce "unfair and extremely high" customs duties in India, which significantly limit US market opportunities. Paraphrasing Trump, he noted that Modi recently announced these reductions.

These statements were made shortly after Trump unveiled the conditions under which American companies operate in India and announced plans to introduce duties on countries imposing duties on American imports.
