The Government of India announced on Monday that an agreement has been reached with China on the resumption of direct flights between the two countries after the COVID-19 pandemic. It was clarified that the decision to open air travel was made at a meeting of high-ranking officials of both countries. "We are pleased to announce the agreement with the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding the resumption of direct flights between China and India," said a source in the Government of India. "This is great news for our citizens and the business community." A similar decision was made as part of efforts to restore normal relations between the two Asian giants after tensions that arose as a result of border clashes in June 2020. The crisis between the countries forced the official New Delhi to fully suspend flights to China. "This decision opens up new opportunities for cooperation between India and China not only in the economic sphere but also in the field of tourism and cultural exchange," added the representative of the government.
