A series of collisions involving India's semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains with cattle have been reported. In one tragic incident, a man was killed. The Vande Bharat train, running on the Mumbai-Gujarat route, struck a cow on the tracks. The impact was so severe that a part of the animal's body was thrown about 30 meters, landing on Shivdayal Sharma, a 68-year-old man who was on the tracks at the time. He died instantly. The following day, the same train suffered minor damage to its front after hitting another cow near Anand station in Gujarat. Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that collisions with cattle are inevitable and were factored into the design of the Vande Bharat trains, which operate at speeds of 130-160 km/h. In response, Western Railway has decided to install a metal fence along the 620 km main route between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to prevent animals from straying onto the tracks and avoid future accidents.
