The authorities of the Indian state of West Bengal have begun the evacuation of thousands of residents from the eastern coastal areas of the country due to the impending tropical cyclone. This comes in connection with the approaching tropical cyclone. It is expected that the cyclone may bring heavy rains and strong winds.
According to local authorities, more than 35 thousand people have already been displaced to safe locations. The evacuation is being conducted with all safety measures in place due to the epidemic of the coronavirus.
"Tropical cyclones are quite common in this region during this time of the year. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our citizens," - said a local official.
It is predicted that the cyclone will weaken by the time it reaches the coast; however, meteorologists urge residents to remain vigilant due to possible negative consequences of the storm.
