Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi was forced to return to the American city due to the blockage of all eight out of twelve toilets on board. It was found that the reason for the blockage was items placed in the toilets, including plastic packets, wrappers, and clothing. After the aircraft landed, airline representatives asked passengers to use the toilets only as intended.
The company provided passengers with a hotel and alternative flight options. An Air India representative stated in the "Times of India" that the airline strongly recommends passengers to use the toilets as intended. Flight AI126 spent about five hours in the air from Chicago to Delhi before returning to Chicago due to problems with all toilets on board.
According to the airline representative, this incident was not the first case of toilet blockage on a Boeing 777 belonging to Air India.
